Love Story

Mason and I met in July of 2009. I remember the first time that I saw him I had gone over to my friends house to go to lunch and he was there, sprawled out on the couch, all dressed up from going job hunting. I was instantly

attracted to him! He swears that we had met before but I think the time must have been off, because I can not remember meeting him before that day.
Mason had decided shortly before we met, after turning his life around and coming back to the LDS church, that he was going to serve a 2 year mission; Which was fine at first since I wasn’t looking for anything “Serious.” Boy, did that change fast. I quickly fell in love with him. Who was I kidding! After spending all day, everyday for a few weeks together, I knew that he was my other half, (as cliché as that may sound.) And he knew that same thing about me.  After less that a week of spending every day together we made it official, even though we knew that he would be leaving soon for his mission. We quickly became the best part of each other's days. We spent as much time together as we could! I did everything that I could to help him prepare to serve a mission. I went with him to buy all of his missionary clothes, I watched him get his patriarchal blessing, watched him pass the sacrament for the first time, receive the priesthood, helped him complete his mission papers, watched him give his first priesthood blessing, give his first talk in over 5 years, and then I was there holding his hand when he received his mission call to the Cincinnati, Ohio. He was leaving March 2010 which was only 2 months away from when he opened it! Our days quickly became full of last minute preparations for him to leave for two years!
Saying goodbye at the MTC.
We had been dating for about 8 months when the day finally came. The morning he left I woke up and went with him and his family to breakfast, went to see him get set apart as a missionary and then went with his dad and sister to drop him off at the Missionary Training Center (MTC.) I remember standing in front of the MTC and crying as I shook his hand. And then it began... and I waited. 2. Long. Years. I would be lying if I said it was anything less that one of the hardest things I have ever done. But I wouldn't trade it for anything! What an amazing experience for us as a couple and for Mason as a man of the Gospel.  I can not adequately express in words how grateful I am that he served a mission for our church. It not only gave him the opportunity to strengthen his testimony and become a better potential husband and father but it also gave me time to refine MY testimony and prepare for the amazing next step in our long relationship!
May 26th, 2012.
He returned from Ohio on March 16th, 2012. I was at the airport with his family waiting for him to get off the airplane, holding a big sign and crying and shaking with excitement to finally be reunited with my favorite person. When I saw him step out of that hallway at the airport I was the first person he came to... and what an amazing feeling it was to be with him again! I have never been swept of my feet quite like I was when we hugged again for the first time in two years. I was so shocked that I could finally hold him and love him again. Happiness filled my heart. It was less than a month later that we were engaged. It was April 8th to be exact. We got married in the Oquirrh Mountain LDS temple in South Jordan, Utah on May 26th, 2012. It was the most perfect day I have ever had! I knew that my life would be pure bliss from that day forward as long as Mason was there to share it with me.
